Investigation on temperature control based on cooled mine compressed air for mine refuge chamber with high-temperature surrounding rock

چکیده

Acceptable temperature is very important for mine refuge chamber (MRC) to ensure the safety of occupants. A novel control scheme combining cold source storage with compressed air (MCA) was proposed MRCs. An experiment conducted explore characteristics controlling in a MRC via MCA. Effects several main factors such as initial surrounding rock (ISRT), ventilation (VT), rate (VR) and heat (HR) on performance were numerically studied. Results show that: (1) In MRC, transfer process between walls will reach dynamic equilibrium within 0.5 h; (2) The ambient increases linearly square root time from 1 h 96 h, gradient VT HR but decreases ISRT VR; (3) Ventilation 0.3 m3/min per capita 20 °C can meet requirements located sandstone layer 32.2 °C. empirical formula predicting parameter calculation method meeting goal are obtained.

Underground mine Refuge Chamber Expectations Training: Program development and evaluation

Refuge chambers are new devices for underground coal mines that provide approximately 96 h of breath able air, water, food, and supplies in the event of an emergency where miners are unable to escape. Researchers at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) developed a training program to prepare miners for what to expect psychologically and physiologically inside of a ...

Impact of mine tailings on surrounding soils: Case study of Draa Lasfar mine, Marrakech- Morocco

The present study represents a first insight into the Draa Lasfar min (Marrakech - Morocco) to assess the degree of polymetallic pollution caused by anthropogenic activities (like mine extraction) and consequently the possible diffusion of heavy metals and to predict the risk of their mobility in the surroundings of the mine area. The edaphologic parameters pH and electrical conductivity (EC) w...

In-mine Experimental Investigation of Temperature Rise and Development of a Validated Thermal Simulation Model of a Mobile Refuge Alternative

Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations require underground coal mines to use refuge alternatives (RAs) to provide a breathable air environment for 96 hrs. One of the main concerns with the use of mobile RAs is the heat and humidity buildup inside the RA. The accumulation of heat and humidity can result in miners suffering heat stress or even death. To investigate this issue, t...
